Dubai [UAE], October 3: Former cricketer Nasser Hussain shared his insights on England's squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2024, noting the team's strong mix of youth and experience.
The tournament will kick off at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE today, with the final set for October 20 at Dubai International Stadium.
In a column for Sky Sports, Hussain highlighted that Heather Knight will lead a "very strong" England team. He stated, "They've got a very strong team, a good blend of youth and experience. Obviously, they will aim to progress at least one stage further than their semi-final exit to hosts South Africa last year."
He also pointed out that England possesses solid spin options, which are crucial for success in the UAE's playing conditions. "They've got good spin options, which I think you need in women's cricket, especially in Sharjah and Dubai. England has gained a lot of confidence after beating Australia in the white-ball segment of the multi-format Ashes series last year," he added.
England is in Group B of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 alongside Bangladesh, Scotland, South Africa, and the West Indies. They will begin their campaign against Bangladesh on Saturday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
England's Squad:
Heather Knight (C), Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Sophia Dunkley, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Alice Capsey, Amy Jones (WK), Sophie Ecclestone, Charlie Dean, Sarah Glenn, Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Linsey Smith, Freya Kemp, Dani Gibson, Bess Heath.
