Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 3: Bengaluru FC assistant coach Renedy Singh shared on Wednesday that he was pleased with securing a single point against Mumbai City FC in the Indian Super League (ISL).
The Blues extended their unbeaten streak to four matches with a goalless draw at the Mumbai Football Arena, maintaining their position at the top of the points table. Meanwhile, Mumbai City FC continued their winless streak, having drawn twice in their last three games.
During the post-match press conference, Renedy Singh emphasized the significance of the point for the team. He acknowledged that their start to the game was not ideal but felt they improved in the second half.
"It's a very important point. The first 30 minutes were not normal for us, but the boys enjoyed having the ball more in the second half. We finished as the stronger side," Singh stated, according to ISL.
"I'm happy with one point. We know how strong Mumbai City FC is; they were champions last year. Playing away in this weather with only three days to recover, our boys fought hard, and this is a vital point. We should continue our momentum from here," he added.
Bengaluru FC has achieved clean sheets in all four of their matches so far, becoming the only team in ISL history, alongside Jamshedpur FC, to do so.
A significant factor in their success has been the performances of Gurpreet Singh Sandhu in goal, who has made 13 saves to date, ranking second in the league. Singh expressed his satisfaction with the Indian international but also conveyed his desire for even more from him.
"Gurpreet has been performing well for a long time, and I expect more from him. He will continue to do well. He is one of the leaders in the team, and I expect him to improve. I'm happy with his performance," he concluded.
