Paris Paralympics: Avani and Mona secure spots in the final of the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 event

Chateauroux [France], August 30: Avani Lekhara, the reigning Paralympic champion, and Mona Agarwal have both qualified for the final of the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 event at the ongoing Paralympics.

Mona finished the qualification round in fifth place with a score of 623.1, while Avani secured the second spot with a score of 625.8.

Ukrainian shooter Iryna Shchetnik set a new Paralympic qualification record with a score of 627.5, surpassing the previous record of 626.0 set by China’s Zhang Cuiping in Tokyo.

During the qualification, Avani began with a 10.6 and Mona with a 10.3. Avani was in 10th place after the first series but climbed to third in the second series. She eventually took the top spot in the fourth series and maintained it through the fifth series.

Mona started strong but fell to sixth place after the fourth series. She ended the qualification with a strong performance in the final series, scoring 105.5.
