Islamabad [Pakistan], August 31: A major gas supply suspension has impacted five districts in Balochistan, including Quetta, causing widespread disruptions, according to ARY News.
The resulting price increases have frustrated residents, who are struggling with the higher costs. Due to the severe shortage, locals are now waiting in line at liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) stores to secure gas supplies.
Shopkeepers have exploited the supply crisis by raising LPG prices artificially. Many households, already dealing with the shortage, are finding it challenging to cope with the price hike from PKR 60 to PKR 80 per kg.
Pakistan's heavy reliance on natural gas for energy, combined with rising demand and insufficient supply, has led to frequent load-shedding. Under the Shehbaz Sharif government, the cost of daily essentials has risen, making them increasingly unaffordable for the average person.
