Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 2: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath introduced a new sports policy aimed at enhancing sports in the state during the inauguration of the 1st Hockey India Junior Men Inter-Zone Championship 2024 in Lucknow.
The Chief Minister announced that athletes who excel in the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, or become World champions will be directly recruited into government jobs. This policy is part of a broader effort to shift the public perception of sports and promote a positive attitude towards it.
Additionally, CM Yogi revealed plans to establish a sports industry named after hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand and committed to developing sports infrastructure, including playgrounds in every village.
The Junior Hockey League, which features six teams divided into two pools, will be held at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium, known for hosting international tournaments.
